Yesterday’s free picks with Karim Benzema and France -1 in the Euro Qualifier did not go as planned, as France allowed an OWN GOAL in the 20th min, but Chelsea’s Florent Malouda quickly responded with a beautiful strike of his own to equalize. Karim Benzema had multiple chances to find the back the net, and in the 86th min, received a great pass, followed with a great strike that would have had France up 2-1, however was called offside, with disallowed the goal, therefore, losing the chance to push the France -1 play, and losing the Benzema scoring play.

A’s look to bounce back from yesterday’s loss after starting the game with a 4-0 lead, but were not able to keep the lead, as the powerful Red Sox’s bats rallied to eventually win the game 8-6, covering the -1.5 run line. Trevor Cahill (6-3, -$67 on ML) will be on the mound this afternoon leading the A’s, while facing off versus Josh Beckett (4-2, +182), who has had a very solid season so far. However, the Red Sox offense will easily over-match the Athletics, and will look to capitalize on any of Cahill’s mistakes early, and if the Red Sox get off to a good start offensively, it will be very unlikely that the A’s who’s ranked in the bottom 25 in Runs Scored, Batting Avg., On-Base Pct., and Slugging Pct., will have the ability to produce enough runs to stay within the run line. This game has blowout written already over it, and may even get out of hand before the 5th inning. Look for Boston to get in a groove early offensively, and for Josh Beckett to pitch a gem of a game. Take Red Sox to COVER the Run-Line for 1 unit.
Euro 2012 Qualifying 0-2 (-2.00 units)
2.) Take Portugal -1.5 (+103) over Norway. (Risk 1 unit to win 1.03 units) 4:00pm EST
Euro 2012 Qualifier has a mismatch this afternoon, as a talented Portuguese team will look to take care of business versus Norway in front of its home crowd. I’m expecting a high-scoring game here, however, I strongly believe it will be a one-side match. Portugal opened as -275 home favorites, and will look to prove that they are a top team in Europe. Portugal will have its A-team roster on the field as Cristiano Ronaldo is listed as a starter, and is coming off a season with Real Madrid where he score over 50 goals for his club in all competitions, breaking a La Liga scoring record. Cristiano Ronaldo scores at will, and will look to do what his Real Madrid teammate could not do for France yesterday. I expect this to be a 3-0 win for Portugal, as the Portuguese will dominate on both sides of the field. Miguel Hugo Almeida, Helder Postiga, and Luis Nani will also look to find the score sheet today, as they are projected as the next highest scoring probability today. This game could get ugly fast for Norway. Take Portugal to COVER the -1.5 goal spread for 1 unit.

Cristiano Ronaldo really makes soccer look easy. He has dominated in every competition he has ever been in. Scoring a record 40 goals this season in 34 La Liga matches, 7 goals in 10 Copa Del Rey matches, and 6 goals in 12 Champions League matches, which led to him having his best scoring season as pro. (He scored 42 goals in 49 matches while with Manchester United during the 2007-08 season). Norway is not known for their defense, and the least I expect for Cristiano Ronaldo is one goal, and would not be surprised if he had 2 or even finished with a late goal to complete the hat trick. We will play it safe tonight, and just take Cristiano Ronaldo to SCORE anytime vs Norway for 2 units.
